Allnex has expanded its offerings for UV curable field applied coatings with blue‐colored applicator friendly resins. Blue colored UCECOAT 7892 and EBECRYL 894 dramatically increase the ease of application and curing of high‐performance UV cured field applied floor coatings. UV cured, field applied floor coatings (UV FACs) are attractive because they offer not only high performance,
but also immediate return to service, which translates to time and cost savings for the building owner. However, because the clarity of UV cured coatings is so high, it can be challenging for applicators to differentiate between the cured and uncured portions of the floor. New blue‐colored UCECOAT 7892 and EBECRYL 894 resins for UV cured field applied coatings solve this issue. Coatings formulated with either resin are blue when first applied, but become clear upon exposure to UV light. As a result, it is easy for applicators to ensure that the entire floor receives an even application of the coating, and that all areas have been exposed to UV light. UCECOAT 7892, an enhanced version of UCECOAT 7891, is a water‐based UV polyurethane dispersion (PUD) with optimal wood coating properties for UV FAC application, including a good balance of flexibility and hardness for good adhesion and coin scuff, plus excellent solvent and chemical resistance. Importantly, UCECOAT 7892 is tack‐free after water evaporation. In addition, UCECOAT 7892 allows for the development of low gloss formulations without the use of silica or other particles, making it easy to matte and resulting in a longer coating shelf life because there are no settling issues. EBECRYL 894, an enhanced version of EBECRYL 893, is a low viscosity, 100 percent  solids polyester acrylate resin designed specifically for UV field applied concrete and vinyl composite tile (VCT) floor coatings. Coatings based on EBECRYL 894 have good weatherability, high gloss, fast cure speeds, plus excellent adhesion, hardness, and scratch, chemical and solvent resistance.
